Come service your bike, or drop in to learn something new!
A community shed
The Elsewhere on Wheels shed, located at 11 Bombing Road, Winnellie hosts a semi regular "tinker time" - A low cost session where you can bring your bike along to do basic maintenance and servicing using the shed and tools available, with guidance and assistance from our resident mechanic, as well as have a yarn with a few mates.
No bike or not sure how to do maintenance? No worries - come along and we'll work together to learn a few new things! No prior knowledge or experience is required. Whether you're an experienced home mechanic or a total newbie, this is a space for us to socialise and learn together. Road and off-road bikes welcome. Bring ya mates!
Please book in advance, as we need minimum numbers to run.
Bookings essential. Please make a booking by selecting the date option on this page.
If you need a space to tinker and can't attend at this time, please contact us. We might be able to slip in an extra booking somewhere!
Family friendly
Mums and Dads don't have to miss out on working on their bikes and learning new skills. We have full facilities on site, including a dedicated family room, where the kiddo's will be able to play in a safe, air-conditioned space while we tinker.
Topics covered
We can support and teach most motorcycle mechanical aspects, including maintenance, carburetors, general electrics, engine work and suspension. Come along to observe or assist, or bring your bike and consumables needed to do the work. We should have most tools and equipment needed here and can cater to most types of bikes.
We have a small range of consumables which can be purchased, however we might not have everything needed for your specific make and model of bike. Please contact us in advance if you are unsure of what consumables you might need.
A inclusive space
The Elsewhere on Wheels shed was created to be an inclusive space where everyone is welcome to come along and give it a go! We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, included and have opportunities to learn and participate. We are all united by our passion for bikes and desire for learning. The shed is open to all.
Women, girls and gender diverse people are especially encouraged and welcomed. We have been awarded government grants in the past for delivery of mechanical training to females, and have both female and male staff on hand to assist.
Elsewhere on Wheels is a proud member of the Welcome Here Project.
Shed rules
You'll be provided with a quick safety orientation on arrival. Wear closed shoes at all times. Stay cool and hydrated (we have plenty of cold water). Zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination, harassment.
